KRISTIE KARROUM

Kristie has been an advocate for breastfeeding mothers for over 20 years and in 2021 was the recipient of the USLCA Changemaker Award. Her early career included 12 years supporting families in NICU and childbirth center settings as a Registered Nurse and subsequently earning her IBCLC. Her work has included consultations in the hospital, clinic, community and home environments, as well as development and implementation of policies and programs in support of breastfeeding. As a Nurse Practitioner, she previously founded a home visit practice to provide equitable access to care through home visits billable to private insurance and Medicaid.

Kristie currently assists families in the outpatient clinic setting in Eastern Idaho and serves as faculty in the Idaho State University Graduate Nursing Programs.

Much of Kristie’s passion for breastfeeding support comes from her own breastfeeding journey with her two boys. She experienced the challenges that come with mothering and breastfeeding, and realized the importance of a network of support to breastfeeding success.

Kristie’s mission is to assist all mothers in recognizing their ability to overcome challenges and reach their individual goals through evidence-based, judgment-free support.
